Entering a CRT Short Pay in Cashup

How to Enter a CRT Short Pay

When a CRT short pay occurs, the Tickets to Cash / CRT Payouts amount on the settlement report will appear overstated. The short pay amount is listed separately to show the portion that was not actually dispensed from the machine.

Cashup is designed for you to enter the figures exactly as they appear on the report:

  • CRT Payouts: Enter the payout value exactly as shown on the CRT settlement slip. If a short pay occurred, this figure will usually appear overstated — still enter it as displayed.
  • Short Pay: Enter the short pay amount exactly as listed on the settlement slip.
  • Cash to Cash: Enter the Note Acceptor amount from the report.
  • Refills: This will typically equal CRT Payouts – Short Pays + Cash to Cash.

In most cases, the short pay is later paid out from the CCU. Recording the short pay separately essentially backs the amount out of CRT Payouts and captures it against the source the cash was actually paid from.

Capturing it this way also provides visibility over how often short pays occur. This helps identify potential issues, such as machines with recurring faults or machines that regularly run low on certain denominations.
