Updating a Security Guard from One Security Company to Another in Star Compliance

This article outlines the process and requirements for updating a security guard’s company association within Star Compliance when they move from one security firm to another.

How do you transfer a security guard to a new security firm in Star Compliance?

To transfer a security guard in Star Compliance, the current firm must first remove the guard from their organisation, after which the new firm can add the guard using their email address and verify venue access. This ensures the guard's permissions, venue access, and compliance records remain accurate.

When a security guard changes employment between security firms, their profile must be updated in Star Compliance to ensure:

  • They are correctly associated with their current security firm
  • They can access venues contracted to their new employer
  • Their permissions and compliance records remain accurate

Before making any updates, it’s important to understand the following system rules:

1. One Security Firm Per Guard
  • In Star Compliance, a security guard user can only be linked to one security firm at a time.
  • A guard must be removed from their current (existing) firm before they can be added to a new one.

2. What if a guard works for more than one security firm simultaneously?

  • Note: This section applies only when a guard is simultaneously employed by more than one security firm — it is not part of the standard transfer process.

If a guard works across multiple security firms:
    • They must use a unique email address for each firm
    • Each email address represents a separate user profile in Star Compliance

How do I update a security guard to a new security firm in Star Compliance?

Follow the three steps below to move a guard from their current firm to a new one. Complete each step in order — the new firm cannot add the guard until the current firm has removed them.

Step 1: Remove guard from current firm

The guard’s existing security firm must:

  1. Log into Star Compliance
  2. Locate the guard’s user profile
  3. Remove the guard from their organisation

Step 2: Add the guard to their new firm

The new security firm can then:

  1. Log into Star Compliance
  2. Use the guard’s email address  to locate them
  3. Assign the guard to their organisation

Step 3: Verify access

Once added:

  • Confirm the guard has access to the correct venues contracted to their new employer
  • Ensure all required compliance records are complete
